Furniture Removal Vans from Morecambe Hauled Uranium in the 70s and 80s

Did you move house in the 70s/80s or get a posh new kitchen? This World in Action Investigation from 1980 follows the route of uranium mined in Namibia to Morecambe furniture vans speeding through to Preston's newly branded "Clean Energy Technology Park" The full documentary can be viewed on Vimeo for £2 (or a full version on instagram here)

According to the World in Action Investigation, as well as furniture vans from Morecambe (a company still going strong with international haulage) the UK government alongside Urenco (Uranium Enrichment facility in Cheshire) also used a famous German Kitchen Company now advertising its "Hidden Attractions" to haul barrels of uranium.

This kind of deception, secrecy and disregard for safety could not happen now in our enlightened and transparent times - could it?
