“look at those stupid bitches” were the words heard (from the direction of Copeland councillors) at a Managing Radioactive Wastes Safely meeting in Whitehaven in which the dodgy 2012 telephone poll was used as a justification for “Cumbrians want a nuclear dump”. Speaking to people in Whitehaven after the meeting, who had been rung up about the Geological Disposal Facility, they said they didn’t really clock that it was for a nuclear dump but had been told it would bring prosperity to Cumbria “Do you want £millions of funding for services?” (Services that should be funded by central Government anyway!) That was in 2012 – having been refused multiple times the (now including plutonium under the seabed) plan is back but only those being bribed are being asked what they think.
