In 1993 there was a multiple page advert in the lifestyle magazine Cumbria Life: “The Sellafield Project. It looks all right on the surface but what happens when you dig a little deeper”

The Sellafield Repository Project Information Centre said in 1993 : ”1800 year old Roman nail shows how iron and steel can withstand burial underground”. BUT nuclear waste (and this plan was ‘just’ for low and intermediate level nuclear waste) needs isolating for millions of years —— and then some.
